Bakunawa fest hosts Iran’s ‘The Note’

Iranian ‘The Note’ is on competition lineup of Bakunawa Young Cinema in the Philippines.

The 8th edition of the Bakunawa Young Cinema in the Philippines is set to announce winners with Iranian short film ‘The Note’ among its competition lineup.

Directed by Siavash Eydani, the film has gone on screen at the ‘Program 2: Your Space or Mine’ of the event.

A brief synopsis for the film reads, “The man wakes up and finds himself on a bed in the sea…”.

‘The Note’ has already participated in a number of global events, including the Meihodo International Youth Visual Media Festival in Japan, UEPB film festival in Brazil and the Mexico Silent Film Festival.

The Bakunawa Cinema of the Young is “an annual film camp and series of film workshops for young filmmakers that culminates into a film festival - mostly of genre films (horror, sci-fi, fantasy, folk, noir, folk, etc).”

The festival has temporarily turned into mostly online screenings; but will maintain a handful of live events following health protocols.

The awards ceremony for the event is slated for January 31.
